Affiliate Link Disclosure: How This Website Makes Money

Rather than just make this page a basic and let’s face it, boring affiliate disclosure. I thought I would try and make my disclosure much more open, interesting and informative for those who don’t know much about affiliate links.

I’ll go through exactly how this website makes money.

I’ll also explain what I try to do differently compared to most other betting related websites.

How This Website Makes Money

I don’t sell any products or run any adverts on this website.

This website only makes money through the use of affiliate links.

You have probably seen a similar sentence used on other websites before like this:

Disclosure: Some of the links on this website are affiliate links, meaning, at no additional cost to you, I will earn a commission if you click through and make a purchase.

This is quite self-explanatory but I’ll go into detail about how it all works.

It might even be something you want to do yourself in the future.

Using affiliate links to generate money is known as affiliate marketing.

“Affiliate marketing is the process of earning a commission by promoting another company’s product (or service). You find a product, promote it to others, and earn a piece of the profit for each sale that you make.” (Thanks, Pat Flynn).

Basically, this means when you help a company make a sale, you get a cut.

This is what I do on this website.

It’s worth noting anyone can begin affiliate marketing, you basically just need your own website and/or social media account.

The process is often as straightforward as joining a company’s affiliate program.

From here you can then promote their product and potentially earn a commission if a sale is made via your affiliate link.

Some big scale, well-known affiliate marketing websites you may have used are Compare The Market and Money Saving Expert.

What If You Don’t Want Me To Get A Commission?

For some reason or other, you might not want me to receive a commission from your purchase.

You can avoid this by simply searching directly for that service or product before making your purchase.

How I Choose Which Products And Services To Promote

I’ve found the most natural and easiest way to do affiliate marketing is to make content around something you enjoy.

For me, that’s matched betting.

My rule is simple, every product or service I recommend has to be able to help my readers make money.

The majority of commissions I receive are from matched betting sites: Oddsmonkey and Profit Accumulator.

If you purchase either of these services and follow the instructions correctly, you are guaranteed to make a profit.

These are the sort of products I feel proud to promote.

I also feel much more comfortable making money by helping my readers make money.

It’s a WIN-WIN-WIN situation (Company – Me the affiliate – The customer).

Not All Affiliate Programs Have The Same Win-Win-Win Outcome

This is particularly the case in the gambling industry.

You might have been on other betting related websites that include links to bookmaker and casino websites.

Often, these links will be affiliate links for bookmakers or casinos.

In this case, the affiliated website owner would only make a commission if you lose money.

If we look at this particular bookmaker affiliate scheme:

Bookmaker affiliate scheme

This would work like this, for example:

– You click on a website’s bookmaker affiliate link.

– You sign up, deposit and lose £100 by gambling.

– The affiliate would get paid £30 (a 30% cut from your losses)

This situation is clearly WIN-WIN-LOSE (Company – The affiliate – The customer).

This could be (and is) highly lucrative for many bookmaker and casino affiliates.

But for me, it just seems wrong that the only way the affiliate makes money is by their ‘customers’ losing money.

My biggest issue is with so-called ‘betting tipsters’.

There are many websites and social media accounts set up to give free betting tips.

However, the account owners don’t care if these betting tips win or lose, they just want you to sign up to a new bookmaker and profit from your inevitable losses.

My Commitment Regarding Affiliate Links On Betting Dad

I will continue to make sure I stick to my rule that every affiliate link that you’ll find on my site will be to a product or service that can help you make money.

You won’t ever find any affiliate links here to bookmakers or casinos websites.

My aim is to help as many people as possible begin to actually beat bookmakers and casinos and urge them to stop gambling and start winning at betting.

Finally, A Huge Thank You

To end my affiliate disclosure, I want to say a massive thank you if you do use my affiliate links and make a purchase.

This site is very much a side hobby that I enjoy doing on a topic I enjoy talking about.

The money I make from affiliate marketing all goes back into the website and helps me grow and spend more time creating content for it.
